Honda Insight Electric Gas Hybrid Car Discontinued.

The Honda Insight was the first electric gas hybrid car to be sold in the United States. Although the Honda Insight was discontinued in 2006 due to sluggish sales, the all new Honda Insight is set to greatly improve on the shortcomings of the first generation model.

The new Honda Insight still remains to be an electric has hybrid car, but it now comes with four doors and more interior room. Critics pointed out that the exterior styling of the Honda Insight was odd-looking at best, but the new model looks more like a car that you would actually want to buy. As an added bonus, the new Insight is also a safe car, earning the Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS for 2012.

The Toyota Prius may be the bestselling hybrid vehicle in the United States, but other carmakers are coming up with new hybrid models to cater to the growing market of green car enthusiasts.

Hybrid cars are more expensive compared to their gasoline-only counterparts, but people will still buy hybrids to soften the impact of rising fuel prices. Electric gas hybrid cars are here to stay, and they are now better than ever.

Toyota is now offering the Prius in four flavors: 3rd Gen Prius, Prius C, Prius plug-in hybrid, and the Prius V. Toyota managed to sell a total of 2 million Prius cars near the end of 2010, and is further proof of the growing demand for fuel efficient and green cars.

One of the most interesting electric gas hybrid cars is the Chevrolet Volt. The Volt is different compared to the 3rd generation Toyota Prius because it is a plug-in hybrid electric car. The Volt can travel for 35 miles on pure electric power with zero emissions. When the batteries are low on power, an internal combustion engine kicks in, further extending your driving range to an estimated 375 miles on a single tank of gasoline.

Ford is not to be left behind in the hybrid craze. You can now buy the Ford Fusion Hybrid that returns 41/36 mpg in city and highway driving. The best thing about the Fusion Hybrid is that it looks and functions like a normal family sedan.

Hyundai and Kia now have hybrid cars to call their own. Based on the brilliant architecture of the Hyundai Sonata midsize family car, the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and Kia Optima Hybrid are one of the best hybrid cars that money can buy. Both the Sonata and the Optima offer incredible amounts of interior room with an impressive fuel mileage of around 40 mpg in highway driving.

Hybrid vehicles utilize a conventional internal combustion engine and an electric motor to produce power. This brilliant combination enables hybrid vehicles to achieve phenomenal fuel economy, with no sacrifices in terms of vehicle performance, interior room, and reliability.

Electric gas hybrid cars are not the permanent solution to rising fuel costs and environmental concerns, but it shows that it is possible to combine flexibility, functionality, and comfort in an easy to drive, affordable, and economical package.
