2008 Cadillac CTS Review
The CTS is an entry-level luxury sedan first introduced in 2003. Picking up on Cadillac’s new edgier image, the CTS features their now-distinctive grille with a more noticeable emblem. In its previous incarnation, the CTS offered plenty of passenger space, but was not without flaws. However, the 2008 redesign smoothes out the kinks, and brings the CTS up to its real potential.
The BuyingAdvice Team Says:
The new Cadillac CTS is leaps and bounds better than its predecessor. By putting design attention into all its previous weaknesses, Cadillac brings the performance of the new CTS up to standard. Plus, this luxury sedan delivers a spacious interior with excellent fit and finish. The CTS now gives BMW, and other imported competitors, a run for their money.
What’s New For 2008:
What is the Predicted Reliability:
J.D. Power gives the CTS 3.5 stars for mechanical quality and 4 stars for performance and design. Problems with the CTS include engine noise, water leaks, steering solenoid failures, dead batteries and failing transmissions. It was recalled twice in 2004 for malfunctioning airbags and fracturing washers. Expect average reliability. The basic warranty lasts for four years or 50,000 miles.
Analysis Of Safety Ratings And Features:
The CTS earned 5 stars in government side crash tests. It earned “Good” in IIHS frontal tests. Anti-lock brakes, full side airbags, OnStar, and stability and traction control come standard.
Pros and Cons:
Pros
+ Great performance
+ Roomy
+ Angular, stylish exterior
Cons

Head-To-Head Competition:
The Infiniti G35 Sedan costs a few hundred less, has ten less hp, and slightly less passenger room. The Chrysler 300 C costs a few thousand more, but has a V8 engine with over 30 more hp and standard AWD. The Toyota Avalon costs about the same, but has nearly 40 less hp and front wheel drive. But it does add in a moonroof and a standard CD changer.
