2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer Review
The Trailblazer is a midsize SUV that was voted the “North American Truck of the Year” when it debuted in 2002. In 2007, new colors were added, and OnStar was made standard.
The BuyingAdvice Team Says:
The Chevrolet Trailblazer made a splash when it was introduced, but Chevrolet has essentially left it out to dry. It is unlikely that we will see any updates until 2010. For the same budget, drivers should check out other options. However, the SS may be worth a test drive if you want a performance SUV.
What’s New For 2008:
What is the Predicted Reliability:
The Trailblazer earned three stars in J.D. Power’s dependability survey. The Trailblazer had some minor issues in its first couple of years, including stuck transmissions, preset mixups, electrical issues, cracking engine mounts, and inaccurate 4WD indicators. The Trailblazer has been recalled a whopping 18 times from 2002-2005. The basic warranty lasts for three years or 36,000 miles and you can expect average to below average reliability.
Analysis Of Safety Ratings And Features:
The Trailblazer earned 3.5 out of 5 stars in government frontal crash tests, and 5 stars in side tests. In IIHS tests, it received “Acceptable” for the front, “Marginal” for the side, and “Poor” for the rear. Anti-lock brakes, side airbags, and stability control come standard.

What Others Are Saying:
“The TrailBlazer provides the best of two worlds — the utilitarian benefits of a hearty truck and much of a sport sedan’s driving fun.” – Chicago Sun-Times
“Chevrolet TrailBlazer is smooth and powerful, with a stunning straight-six engine, a stiff chassis, a sophisticated suspension, powerful brakes and impressive details. It’s capable of off-road travel, but feels stable and comfortable on the highway.” – New Car Test Drive
“I was thoroughly enchanted by the Trailblazer SS. I found myself doing the kind of calculations that almost invariably lead to another vehicle in my driveway and another payment flying out of my bank account every month.” – About.com
