2007 Land Rover Range Rover Review
The Range Rover is a luxury SUV first brought to the United States in 1987. It was later redesigned in 1995. The latest Rover, now owned by Ford, was introduced in 2002. It was chosen as Car and Driver’s “Best Luxury SUV.”
The BuyingAdvice Team Says:
The Land Rover Range Rover is one of the most prestigious vehicles in the world, favored by celebrities and royalty. It’s also one of the most capable off road vehicles, and manages to deliver it all in a luxurious package. While there are less expensive and more reliable vehicles out there, who are we to argue with Sean Connery and the Queen of England?
What’s New For 2007:
What is the Predicted Reliability:
J.D. Power gives the Rover 4.5 stars for design. Problems with the last generation include engine misfires, fuel odors, malfunctioning climate control, difficult starting, oil leaks, transmission leaks, and transmission noise. It was recalled nine times. The current Range Rover has issues with engine noise, inaccurate fuel gauges, and problematic air suspensions. It has been recalled four times, three of those in 2006 for issues such as uneven braking, non-buckling seat belts, and inability to shift into park. Expect average reliability. The basic warranty lasts for four years or 50,000 miles.
Analysis Of Safety Ratings And Features:
Crash test scores are not available. Anti-lock brakes, full side airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, parking sensors, a backup camera, and stability control come standard.
Pros and Cons:

Head-To-Head Competition:
The BMW X5 costs $20,000 less and has 45 more hp, but lacks navigation, a CD changer, and a moonroof. The Hummer H2 SUV costs $20,000 less, and has more carrying capacity. However, it lacks a moonroof, side airbags, and navigation. The Lexus LX costs $9,000 less, has a standard third row, DVD player, and more cargo room, but has almost 40 less hp.
What Others Are Saying:
“Land Rover supercharges its stately and sumptuous Range Rover. With 400 horsepower and improved handling, it’s now as fast as it is luxurious.” – Forbes
“Regular readers know I’m not an unqualified lover of SUVs. But if Mssrs Dow, Jones and I were ever to get on friendly terms, this is one SUV I’d seriously consider.” – About.com
“The supercharged 2006 Range Rover Sport is a car for those concerned more with making an impression than with enjoying the ride. Expensive to buy and to run, the Sport looks like a million dollars from outside, but inferior fixtures and lackluster tech means that it feels a lot cheaper from the driver’s seat.” – C|Net
