What is the Predicted Reliability:
Reliability information isn’t available, but it should be similar to the S-Class. J.D. Power gives the S-Class 5 stars for overall mechanical reliability. The 1992-1999 S-Class had issues with EGR valves, vibrations, and steering problems. It was recalled three times. The last generation had issues with air conditioners, brake wear, rough idling, water leaks, and overheating windshield washer hoses. It was recalled eight times. Expect average reliability. The basic warranty lasts for four years or 50,000 miles.

Crash test scores are not available. Brake assist, eight airbags, night vision, and stability control come standard. Also included is Mercedes’ PreSafe, which can detect an oncoming collision and adjust the interior in order to protect passengers.
