2007 Suzuki XL-7 Review

The XL-7 is Suzuki’s largest mid-size SUV that first debuted for 2001. Dwarfing the Grand Vitara, the XL-7 can seat up to seven passengers. Despite its large seating capacity, the XL-7 is still compact enough to get into the tightest spaces. A brand new generation debuts for 2007.

What’s New For 2007:

The second generation debuts for this year. The interior has been vastly improved. While the first generation was cramped, the new XL-7 is roomy and accommodating. The exterior has been given a new, sleeker look. It’s now powered by a 3.6-L, 252-hp V6 engine that can go from zero to 60 in under eight seconds.

What is the Predicted Reliability:

J.D. Power gives the XL-7 2 stars for overall mechanical quality and 3.5 stars for performance and design. The only problem with the last generation was engine noise. The 2001-04 models were recalled due to faulty accelerator caps. The 2001-06 models were recalled due to breaking front brake discs. The 2002-03 XL-7s were recalled due to improperly secured windshields. Finally, the 2003 was recalled due to blown ignition fuses. Expect average reliability. The basic warranty lasts for three years or 36,000 miles.

Analysis Of Safety Ratings And Features:

Crash test scores are not available. Anti-lock brakes, full side airbags, tire-pressure monitoring, a rollover sensors, and stability and traction control come standard.

The Toyota RAV4 matches the XL-7 in price and features, but gets five more miles to the gallon. The Kia Sorento LX has more payload capacity and the same features at the same price.
