2008 Nissan Pathfinder Review
The Pathfinder is a midsize SUV that first debuted in 1985. Its first incarnation was a pickup-truck based, two-door, 4WD vehicle. The Pathfinder evolved into a four-door in 1990. The second generation debuted for 2000, featuring an all-new frame. The third, and current generation, debuted in 2005 this time based upon the Nissan Armada.
The BuyingAdvice Team Says:
The Nissan Pathfinder is one SUV that lives up to its name. Entering the market before SUVs were cool, it still hasn’t forgotten its heritage. While it might now be a seven-passenger family vehicle, it’s every bit as rugged as the original. If you need to haul a lot of people practically anywhere, the Pathfinder is for you.

J.D. Power gives the Pathfinder 3.5 stars for mechanical quality and 2 stars for design quality. The current generation has had issues with engine noise and failing seat motors. No recalls have been issued. Expect above average reliability. The basic warranty lasts for three years or 36,000 miles.

The Saturn VUE, at around the same price offers side airbags and AWD.
What Others Are Saying:
“The mid-size-SUV market is crowded, but the Pathfinder is up near the top. The suspicion, however, is that most potential buyers will be swayed by the styling and seating versatility rather than its ability to go trampling trails.” – Automobile Magazine
“The 2007 Nissan Pathfinder is a truly capable, and truly midsize SUV. All the elements are in place: a robust powertrain, a proper choice of 4WD mechanicals, fresh and eye-pleasing styling, an accommodating interior, and some nice amenities.” – New York Times
“I guess the only question left to ask those looking to buy a new SUV is would you prefer the new 2005 Nissan Pathfinder in black, with a little cream, or in a nice crisp caramel color? Either way, the resulting flavor and aroma should be very satisfying indeed.” – Road & Travel
