2007 Hyundai Entourage Review

2007 Hyundai Entourage Review The Entourage, Hyundai’s first minivan, is all new for 2007, and it delivers on safety. It was chosen as one of the IIHS’s top safety picks for 2007. A unique 60/40 rear folding seat that folds into the floor, along with Hyundai’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, make the Entourage appealing, whether you’re a soccer mom or not.

The BuyingAdvice Team Says:

The Hyundai Entourage is the ultimate minivan. Taking the crown once held by the Honda Odyssey, the Entourage offers all the features a person could want, plus a great warranty, for less money. With tons of space and unsurpassed safety, the Entourage is one of Hyundai’s most promising vehicles.

What is the Predicted Reliability:

Longterm data is not yet available, nor are J.D. Power’s initial reliability ratings. So far, noted problems include engine cooling, difficult shifting, tailgates that don’t shut properly, sticky power window switches, and problematic adaptive transaxles. It has been recalled once due to wire chafing in models with adjustable brake pedals. Expect average reliability for the first year. The basic warranty lasts for five years or 60,000 miles.

Analysis Of Safety Ratings And Features:

The Entourage earned perfect 5-star ratings from the government. It also received perfect ratings from the IIHS, who branded it one of their top safety picks. Standard safety features include anti-lock brakes, brake assist, full side airbags, active headrests, tire-pressure monitoring, and stability and traction control. Parking sensors and adjustable pedals are available on the Limited.

Pros and Cons:

Pros
+ Phenomenal safety
+ Standard third-row seating
+ Costs less than the competition

Cons
- First-year reliability issues
- Bulky
- Still pricey

Head-To-Head Competition:

The Entourage kicks the crap out of every other minivan on the market. It dethrones the Honda Odyssey by offering all of its features and a better warranty for $1,700 less. The Entourage laughs at the puny Chevrolet Uplander, which might have a DVD player, but doesn’t have the Entourage’s third-row seating or automatic five-speed. Not to mention the Entourage costs $3,500 less. It even trounces its cousin, the Kia Sedona, by offering a third row for no extra cost.

What Others Are Saying:

“As far as vans go, the Entourage is great. In fact, it’s as good as the Honda Odyssey, which I think is the best van in the business — and it costs thousands less. If lots of space is what you need, then the Entourage is the van to buy.”About.com

“The Entourage is Hyundai’s first minivan. The all-new Entourage is aimed squarely at the big players in the minivan market, including the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey, and Dodge Caravan. Its armaments include lots of interior space, lots of power, and lots of high-tech safety gear at a price lower than its Japanese and American competitors.”J.D. Power

“Hyundai comes very late to the minivan segment with its new-for-2007, seven-passenger Entourage. Engine power is good, amenities are plentiful, styling is pleasantly mainstream and safety ratings are high. But starting price is nearly $24,000.”MSN
