2008 GMC Sierra 1500 Review The Sierra is a full-size pickup truck that has been on the market since its debut in 1962. Its twin counterpart is the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. After not having any major updates since 1999, the Sierra was fully remodeled last year. The 1500 is the lighter duty variant that can tow up to 10,500 lbs. and the V8 engine offers flex fuel capacity.

What is the Predicted Reliability:

J.D. Power gives the Sierra 3 stars for overall dependability. Problems with the last generation included transmissions popping out of gear, and vehicle shake when accelerating. It was recalled 16 times over 7 yrs. No issues have been reported for the newest generation yet. Expect average reliability. The basic warranty lasts three years or 36,000 miles.

The Sierra 1500 received 5 stars in government crash tests. Anti-lock brakes are standard. Side airbags and adjustable pedals are optional. Stability control is standard on crew cabs, and is available on the extended cab.
