2007 Audi S4 Review The S4 is the sporty variant of the (Audi A4), first introduced in 2000. After a 2003 hiatus, it returned with a 340-hp V8 engine. It was restyled in 2005. It's available as a sedan, hatchback, or convertible.

What's New For 2007:

What is the Predicted Reliability:

J.D. Power ratings are not available. Problems with the S4 include coolant leaks, water leaks, and hard starting. It was recalled once in 2003-04 for degrading xenon coating. Expect above average reliability. The basic warranty lasts for four years or 50,000 miles.


Analysis Of Safety Ratings And Features:

The S4 earned 4 stars in government frontal crash tests and 4.5 stars in side tests. IIHS tests are not available. Anti-lock brakes, full side airbags, and stability and traction control are standard. Rear side airbags are optional.

Head-To-Head Competition:

The Chrysler 300 SRT-8 costs $7,000 less, and has a larger engine with 85 more hp. But it lacks the S4's standard AWD, side airbags, and CD changer. The Infiniti M 45 costs $1,600 more and lacks AWD. The Volvo V70 costs $6,500 less and has three times the cargo capacity, but has a smaller engine with 40 less hp and lacks a CD changer.
