2008 Lexus LS 460 Review
The LS is Lexus’ flagship luxury sedan that first debuted in 1990. The second generation debuted for 1995, with a much lighter body. The third arrived for 2001, with an ultra-low emission V8, and a number of other improvements. The current LS, the 460, debuted in 2007. The LS has won dozens of awards, and has been named J.D. Power’s “Best High-end Luxury Sedan” for 12 years in a row for its unparalleled reliability.

What is the Predicted Reliability:
J.D. Power gave the LS 430 5 stars for dependability. Problems with the second generation included engine misfires, inaccurate temperature readings, and emissions problems. It was recalled once. Problems with the last generation included brake noise, steering noise, truck latch issues, and cracking mirrors. It was recalled three times for improperly manufactured fuel pumps, inoperative parking brakes, and weak airbags. Expect above average reliability. The basic warranty lasts for four years or 50,000 miles.

Government crash test scores are not available. It received a “Good” score in IIHS frontal tests, and “Marginal” in rear tests. Anti-lock brakes, full side airbags, front knee airbags, and stability and traction control come standard. Rear side airbags are optional. Adaptive cruise control with a pre-collision system is optional.
