2007 Hummer H2 SUV Review
The H2 is the second-generation civilian Hummer, and released for 2003. It's somewhat lighter than the classic H1, but is a bit larger. It's heavy weight, at over 6,000 pounds, makes it not only one of the heaviest passenger vehicles on the market, but also eligible for tax deductions. The H2 is highly controversial due to its extremely poor fuel economy.
The BuyingAdvice Team Says:
The Hummer has been an iconic vehicle ever since the first Gulf War and Arnold Schwarzenegger. It quickly gained a reputation as a go-anywhere, do anything vehicle. Unfortunately, the Hummer H2 SUV is anything but. It's far too big for most off-roader's tastes, plus its fuel economy is horrible, as is its reliability record. Not only that, but its missing stability control and side airbags, which are key features for any modern SUV. Even worse, it's significantly more expensive than its competition while still missing some of their features. Unless you like to pretend to be in the military, or star in Hollywood action movies, steer away from the H2.

Head-To-Head Competition:
The Audi Q7 costs $4,000 less, has a six-speed transmission, a DVD player, a CD changer, side airbags, 25 more horsepower, and likely better gas mileage (the H2 is untested by the EPA). The H2 does have a larger engine and almost double the payload capacity of the Q7, though. The GMC Yukon Denali costs $4,000 less, has a six-speed transmission, navigation, CD changer, side airbags, third-row seating, and 55 more horsepower. However it has less payload capacity than the H2. The Land Rover LR3 costs $900 less, has a six-speed, navigation system, CD changer, and side airbags. However, it has a smaller engine than the H2, with 25 fewer horsepower and, of course, less payload capacity.
What Others Are Saying:
"At least for the time being, the automaker is not required to post the vehicle's fuel-economy ratings, because the Hummer H2 is officially classified as a medium-duty truck, making it exempt from federal rules in that regard. But high single-digit to low double-digit mileage is common. So suffice to say, you'll pay dearly at the pump to keep this behemoth running." - Forbes
"The Hummer H2 isn't for everyone. But it's for a lot more people, in my estimation, than the H1 was." - The Auto Channel
"Inside, the H2 is less impressive. Most of the plastics are low-rent, and the fit and finish of our test vehicle earned a B-minus, at best. There are also a few minor irritations inside, such as the protruding parking-brake pedal which tends to deal blows to your shin upon entry and exit. The comfortable but annoyingly unsupportive seats and the absence of stability control and side air bags are glaring oversights." - Automobile Magazine
