2008 Ford F-150 Review

2008 Ford F-150 Review For 60 years, the F-150 has been one of America's best-selling pickup trucks. It's introduced a number of innovations, including a four-door version and a rear access panel. Most recently, the 2004 redesign of the F-Series won numerous awards, including "North American Truck of the Year."

The BuyingAdvice Team Says:

The Ford F-150 is a classic pickup truck, with a lot to offer. Unfortunately, it's now been outpaced by even some of its domestic rivals. It's still a capable truck, but you can get more raw performance and features for your money.

What's New For 2008:

Several special editions have been introduced this year, including a 60th anniversary model, an upscale Lariat Limited trim, and an XL version of the SuperCrew. Cargo management and a rearview camera are now available.

J.D. Power gives the F-150 4 stars for dependability. Problems with the last generation include buzzing radios, leaking transmissions, improperly sealed ducts, engine misfires, lurching clutches, engine noise and heater core leaks. It was recalled 21 times. The current generation has had issues with brake noise, noisy clutches, engine noise, suspension noise, water leaks and vehicle shake. It's been recalled five times since 2004 for issues, such as fuel leaks and premature tire wear. Expect average reliability. The basic warranty lasts for three years or 36,000 miles.

The Toyota Tundra includes traction control, AC, side airbags, and 30 more hp, but costs several thousand more.
