2008 Dodge Durango Review

2008 Dodge Durango Review The Durango is a midsize SUV that debuted in 1998. The second generation debuted in 2004. It was reworked in 2007 with a new exterior and extra safety features. The Durango also has a flex fuel V8 engine option that can run on up to 85% ethanol fuel or gasoline. AWD is available and the Durango can handle some off-road driving.

The BuyingAdvice Team Says:

The Dodge Durango offers bold looks and an equally bold engine to make for an imposing force on the highway. But with its poor reliability, high price and limited safety features, there are better options on the market. However, its large cargo area and smooth ride ensure that it will have fans regardless.

What’s New For 2008:

A new 4.7-L V8 is standard this year, that’s both more powerful and efficient. The second row seat now reclines on the SLT and Adventurer trims. A backup camera and tire pressure monitor are now available.

What Others Are Saying:

“If you need a big, tough-looking SUV, Durango may be the vehicle to fit the bill. Do like I did, and make sure that you’re as tough-looking as your SUV. Grow some stubble, buy some plaid, spit out that bubblegum and get some chaw. Hang around at truck stops and buy some Merle Haggard CDs. Okay, maybe you don’t have to take it that far. But you will be driving a tough-looking SUV.”About.com

“Overall, the Dodge Durango is a super mid-size SUV…it is expensive, compared to some of the competition. Fully loaded, the price is in the mid-40 thousand range, which is very expensive and puts it in the luxury SUV range.”The Auto Channel

“Dodge Durango is smooth and powerful with either of the two V8 engines. It rides well and handles especially well, and has excellent engineering touches and details. It was value-priced last year, and with prices reduced and standard equipment added for 2007, it’s a better bargain than ever. If you’re in the market for a large SUV and like the Durango’s rugged looks, you should check it out.”The New York Times
