2008 Chevrolet Express Passenger Van Review

2008 Chevrolet Express Passenger Van Review The Express is a passenger van that debuted in 1996. It was refreshed in 2003 with all-wheel drive and new styling. It’s the second-best full-size van in America, behind the Ford E-Series.

The BuyingAdvice Team Says:

The Chevrolet Express Passenger Van is a vehicle of pure utility. It can carry a lot of people, but the interior isn’t exactly Lexus quality, even after improvements. While it can’t tow as much as a Ford, it has the most powerful engine in its class.

What’s New For 2008:

Stability control, side curtain airbags, and tire-pressure monitoring are now standard. The interior has been improved with a new steering wheel, new controls, and better materials. Two trims are available: LS and LT, in half-ton and 1-ton body styles.

What is the Predicted Reliability:

J.D. Power gives the Express 4 stars for dependability. Problems with the Express include engine overheating, engine knock, hesitations, and vibrations. It’s been recalled 10 since 2003 for improperly latching seatbelts, faulty power steering hoses, faulty transmission cables, and other issues. Expect below average reliability. The basic warranty lasts for three years or 36,000 miles.

Analysis Of Safety Ratings And Features:

The Express earned 5 stars in government frontal crash tests. IIHS scores are not available. Anti-lock brakes, stability control, tire-pressure monitoring, and side airbags come standard.

Head-To-Head Competition:

The Ford E-Series Van 250 can tow much more, but lacks side airbags and has nearly 80 less hp. The Dodge Sprinter Van 2500 includes a CD player and can tow much more, but costs several thousand more, lacks side airbags, and has almost 150 less hp. The GMC Savana Passenger Van is virtually identical.

What Others Are Saying:

“Long a favorite of tradesmen and shuttle services, the 2008 Chevrolet Express continues to stay true to its working van roots… It can seat up to 15 passengers, provides six different engine options and offers configurations for work or personal use.”U.S. News

“The Chevy Express reminds everyone why minivans are called minivans. Just park any minivan next to a 2008 Chevrolet Express to literally see what we mean. Also, one turn behind the wheel of an Express full-size van will help you understand why minivans are popular; they drive “smaller” than this big bread loaf. Not that the Chevrolet Express drives badly, it’s just big, and drives like it.”The Car Connection.com

“If you have a business and need a substantial amount of room for tools or storage, the 2008 Chevrolet Express Van is hard to top. A choice of four powerful V8 engines, varied towing capabilities and optional all-wheel drive makes the Express Van perfect for business and family use.”Kelly Blue Book
