2008 Cadillac STS Review The STS is a luxury sedan that debuted in 2005 to replace the Seville. It features the new, bolder Cadillac styling. What’s New For 2008:

The STS has received a new exterior for 2008, featuring a new grille, vertical headlamps and other touches. Also new for this year is a 302-hp engine, with nearly 50 more horsepower than last year. Other new features include active steering and a blind zone alert system.

What is the Predicted Reliability:

J.D. Power gives the CTS 4 stars for mechanical quality, performance and design. Problems include oil leaks, blistering paint, inaccurate fuel gauges and poor radio reception. Three recalls have been issued for weak welds, inaccurate fuel gauges and faulty throttle controls. Expect above average reliability. The basic warranty lasts for four years or 50,000 miles.


Analysis Of Safety Ratings And Features:

The STS earned 4 stars in government frontal tests and 4.5 stars in side tests. In IIHS tests, it earned “Good” for the front, “Acceptable” for the side and “Poor” for the rear. Anti-lock brakes, full side airbags, lane departure warning, blind zone alert and stability control come standard. Active steering is available on STS trims equipped with AWD and a V8.

Head-To-Head Competition:

The Acura RL includes standard AWD, a CD changer and a moonroof, but costs several thousand more. The STS costs a couple thousand less than the BMW 5 Series. But the 5 Series has a larger engine with 70 more hp. The STS costs several thousand less than the Jaguar S-Type which has nearly 70 more hp and a standard navigation system.
