2008 Acura RL Review
The RL is Acura’s top-priced luxury sedan that debuted in 1996. The second generation debuted about three years later, with an updated design, new interior and a reworked underbody. The third and current generation debuted in 2005, with an advanced all-wheel drive system. That year, it made Car and Driver’s “Ten Best” list.
The BuyingAdvice Team Says:
The Acura RL is a sensible luxury car that holds up with the best in its class. While you won’t find particularly sexy styling or mind-blowing performance here, it’s a solidly-built car with plenty of advanced features. If luxury and dependability is what you need, the RL is your car.

What Others Are Saying:
“I have to applaud Acura. The flagship RL represents a real alternative to the heavyweights in the field, the BMW 530i and the Mercedes-Benz E320. By offering a truly full-featured car that’s built to the highest standards of mass-production, Acura has carved an identity for the RL. The 530i may out-perform the RL in a pure numerical challenge, but the RL is in the hunt.” – About.com
“The Acura RL embraces the agile handling and quick acceleration performance of a sports sedan. It’s easy to drive and helps keep its driver out of harm’s way with the latest in all-wheel drive and active safety technology. Yet it rides nicely, coddles its occupants and exudes a sporty, luxurious ambience.” – The New York Times
“With its innovative technology and emphasis on driving fun without a corresponding sacrifice in passenger comfort, the Acura RL has earned its rightful place among the elite sports sedans.” – The Family Car
